Sharing with the media, the 14-year-old rapper said his Instagram account was hacked and bad guys used this profile to post the news of her death. Lil Tay said: "I feel very heartbroken and don't know what words to use. It was a forgettable 24 hours. Over the course of yesterday, I received a bunch of calls from relatives in the midst of feeling extremely confused."
After hearing Lil Tay's comments, TMZ reporters expressed puzzlement at the girl's delay in correcting misinformation. Not only the journalist questioned, even the former manager of the child rapper expressed doubts about the information she gave.
According to the Mirror, Lil Tay's former manager claimed that the child rapper used the trick to get attention: "Normally recovering a hacked social media account doesn't take up to 24 hours. I don't think Lil Tay's account was hacked as she said. If you're going to do everything just to get attention and burnish your name, it's really irresponsible."
In a conversation with the Daily Mail, he added: "When I heard that Lil Tay was alive and well, I was relieved that she was safe. However, I believe the reported Instagram account breach may not have happened."
