Comedian and TV host Wendy Williams, 60, threw a handwritten note out the window calling for help after accusing the health care facility she was in resembling a prison.
On the morning of March 10, Wendy Williams stood behind a fifth-floor window at a care facility in New York, waving to paparazzi and then throwing down a piece of paper with the words: "Help! Wendy". Soon after, police were called with an ambulance to take Wendy from the facility to Lennox Hill Hospital.
According to TMZ, a psychiatrist at the hospital determined that Wendy Williams' mental capacity was fine. She took a psychological test called the "ability test" and got a perfect score of 10/10. The test is commonly used to assess the likelihood of dementia in older adults, including 10 questions about date of birth, address and who is the current president. Each correct answer counts one point. A score of 6 or less may indicate that the patient is suffering from dementia or delirium.
Wendy Williams is under court-ordered guardianship after being diagnosed with frontal lobe dementia in 2023. She objected to this diagnosis and tried to end the guardianship. The results of the aptitude test will be sent to the judge in Williams' guardianship case.
Her court-appointed guardian, Sabrina Morrissey, stated in court documents that Williams suffered from cognitive impairment, permanent disability and disability due to dementia. However, Williams insisted that she remained sober and recently said she was "detained" and "not allowed" to go out freely.
Last month, Wendy Williams was seen leaning against the window sobbing during a live phone interview with TMZ's Harvey Levin. The TV star told Harvey she felt like a prisoner here, only allowed to go out twice in 30 days, no internet, no one allowed to visit.
