Miss National 2024 is suspected of being rigged, the "inferior" contestant is still crowned?

The crown of Miss Vietnam 2024 has found its owner, but the aftermath of the final night is still controversial. Nguyen Ngoc Kieu Duy has faced a wave of strong reactions from public opinion, especially revolving around the fairness of the behavioral round.

On the evening of December 28, the final night of Miss Vietnam 2024 ended with the victory belonging to Nguyen Ngoc Kieu Duy. The 21-year-old gir.l from Can Tho excelled over two runners-up Phuong Thanh and Cam Ly to conquer the Miss title. However, instead of full congratulations, the online community was stirred up by the controversial way the behavioral round was organized.

What made many viewers angry was the way the question and answer round was organized. Instead of each contestant having a separate question, all three contestants in the Top 3 - Kieu Duy, Phuong Thanh and Cam Ly - had to answer the same question. However, it is worth mentioning that the order of answers was not equal: Kieu Duy would answer first, then Phuong Thanh and finally Cam Ly.

This has led many to question whether this round is truly fair, as later contestants can hear the answers of previous contestants and adjust their own words to better suit them. This is a problem that many international beauty pageants such as Miss Universe Vietnam have overcome by requiring contestants to wear sound-proofing devices, allowing each person to have their own time and space to answer questions.

Not only the question and answer round, but Kieu Duy's victory itself also received mixed opinions. Although highly appreciated by the judges and the Organizing Committee, a part of the audience still questioned her other factors, thinking that she was not really outstanding.

In the face of this controversy, the Organizing Committee and the Jury have spoken out to defend the results. Ms. Pham Kim Dung, Head of the Organizing Committee, affirmed that Kieu Duy deserved the crown not only because of her appearance but also because of her intelligence, foreign language ability and a process of self-improvement, from losing a significant amount of weight.

People's Artist Vuong Duy Bien, Head of the Jury, also emphasized Kieu Duy's sharp thinking and confidence in the behavioral round, saying that she possesses the qualities that the contest is looking for in a beauty queen.

In fact, Kieu Duy stands out with her height of 1m67 and slim figure, having proven herself through a long journey with many remarkable achievements. She won the title of Miss Tay Do Beauty, Miss FPT Can Tho, and had successes in sports and debate competitions. However, when she became the winner of a major beauty contest, Kieu Duy encountered no small amount of controversy about her worthiness.

Kieu Duy's journey at Miss Vietnam 2024 is a story of effort and change. From a 60kg gir.l, she has transformed her appearance, while improving her communication and speaking skills. However, controversies about her appearance and the question and answer round still make many people doubt the fairness of the contest. However, one thing is certain: Kieu Duy has left a strong impression on the audience and is the representative of Vietnam at Miss International 2025.
