Miss Universe Vietnam and an incomparable mark before stopping the right to compete MU: H'Hen Niê was glorious with the runner-up position

Therefore, Unicorp's recent announcement of stopping cooperation with Miss Universe organization made beauty fans surprised and disappointed. This means that Miss Universe Vietnam will not send contestants to the Miss Universe contest.

The Miss Universe Vietnam contest was held for the first time in 2008 with the victory of Thuy Lam. In the same year, she competed at home for Miss Universe and finished in the top 15. In recent years, Thuy Lam has rarely participated in entertainment activities.

For more than a decade, a total of 13 Vietnamese beauties have been sent to participate in the Miss Universe beauty arena. H'Hen Niê achieved the highest achievement with the top 5 position.

Ngoc Chau competed in the 71st Miss Universe contest in the US in early 2023. Despite a thorough preparation and catwalk practice with the Philippine coach, she was unlucky to be selected in the top 16 finalists. Ngoc Chau won the sub- prize for the best swimsuit in the contest.

After the final, Ngoc Chau apologized and thanked the audience. She expressed: "Chau wants to apologize to everyone, to those who have always followed and supported from the first day. In 2021, Kim Duyen competed with the Miss Universe contestants in Israel and ended up in the top 16. She has a healthy, dynamic, and toned body. However, the ability to speak English and not good behavioral skills is probably the reason why the runner-up could not go further. A year later, she continued to compete in Miss Supranational 2022 - Miss Supranational and was awarded 2nd runner-up.

Khanh Van (left photo) and Hoang Thuy achieved top 21 (in 2020) and top 20 (in 2019), respectively. Starting as a model, the girls all showed good catwalk skills and impressive costumes. However, Miss Universe is inherently one of the two most fierce arenas on the planet and appearance is not a decisive factor. The beauty chosen to win usually has a good background, a strong voice, and a clear personal message.

In 2018, in Thailand, H'Hen Niê was named in the top 5 of Miss Universe. So far, this is still an impressive result that no Vietnamese contestant has passed. According to experts, H'Hen Niê has an impressive appearance and inspirational story. It is this factor that helps her conquer the jury.

At the end of 2022, when giving an interview on a program, Ms. Paula Shugart - President of the Miss Universe organization - still mentioned H'Hen Niê. "A few years ago, the beauty pageant in Vietnam recognized a contestant from a rural village. According to the tradition of this girl's homeland, girls aged 13-14 had to get married, but she told her family, 'No, you need to study.' I think she is the 3rd runner-up of Miss Universe 2018," she said.

Before H'Hen Niê, Vietnamese contestants experienced many unsuccessful years in a row. Le Hang (in 2016) and Nguyen Thi Loan (in 2017) are among these. Nguyen Loan, with extensive international competition experience, once entered the top 25 of Miss World 2014, still cannot conquer Miss Universe.

Pham Huong's case at Miss Universe 2015 probably left many regrets with beauty fans. Before the final, beauty websites like Missosology or Global Beauties ranked her among the outstanding candidates, likely to reach the top 5 finalists. Therefore, when Pham Huong slipped to the top 15, many viewers were disappointed. The beauty crowned that year was the representative of the Philippines - Pia Alonzo Wurtzbach.

In 2012 and 2013, Diem Huong and Truong Thi May did not touch luck. At this stage, the beauty industry in Vietnam has not been as well-invested or strategic as other Asian countries.
