The passing of Ho Chiu-Ha, the most private daughter of "casino king" Stanley Ho, has surprised and saddened the public in recent days, sparking much debate.
While her older sister, Ho Siu-ching, is prominent in the business world, and her younger sister, Ho Siu-lien, attracts attention in the entertainment industry, Ho Siu-ha has chosen a quiet life, rarely appearing in the media. However, it is precisely this quietness that makes her special in the eyes of her family, especially her father.
The most special son of casino tycoon Stanley Ho, who enjoyed his father's utmost trust.
Born in 1966, Ho Chiu-Ha is the third daughter of Stanley Ho and his second wife, Lam Kin-ying. From a young age, she possessed a gentle, soft-spoken, and reserved personality. While many of her siblings grew up amidst the glamour of their wealthy family, she lacked any air of arrogance or ostentation. Acquaintances describe her as simple, quiet, and even somewhat reserved compared to other prominent members of her family.
As she grew older, the differences between her and her sisters became more apparent. Her older sisters, Ho Siu-ching and Ho Siu-fung, are both influential figures in the family, frequently appearing at major events. Her younger sister, Ho Siu-yi, entered the entertainment industry with a strong, independent image. Meanwhile, Ho Siu-ha almost never appears in the media and rarely participates in public activities. Because of this, many people commented that she "doesn't resemble a typical wealthy heiress."
Despite her private life, He Chaohe possesses an impressive educational background. She graduated from Pepperdine University with a double degree in mass communication and psychology. After completing her studies, she did not choose a path to fame but focused on the family business. For many years, she dedicated herself to managing and supporting the family's activities, while also actively participating in charitable work. Notably, she has never been involved in any rumors or scandals throughout her career.
In her professional life, Ho Chiu-Ha serves as the CEO of Shun Tak Group Co., Ltd., one of her family's key businesses. The group operates in various sectors including real estate development, transportation, hotels, entertainment, and investment. Although not a frequent public figure, she plays a crucial role in maintaining the stability of the business. Those who work with her describe her as calm, practical, and prioritizing the common good.
Within the family, Ho Chiu-Ha had a particularly close relationship with her father, Ho Hung-sun. He once publicly stated, "The person who gives me the most peace of mind is Chiu-Ha." Of his 17 children, she was the only one to receive such praise. When disputes over property arose within the family, she did not participate in the infighting. Instead, she focused on her work at Shun Tak and maintained internal stability. In her father's eyes, she was a reliable, quiet but steadfast "pillar."
The truth behind the sudden death of He Chaohe at the age of 60.
On April 12, 2026, Ho Chiu-Ha passed away peacefully at the Yangwa Hospital in Hong Kong. When the news broke, many speculations arose. Some suggested she was involved in internal disputes, while others speculated about an acute illness. However, Hong Kong media later confirmed that she died from a recurrence of breast cancer after a six-year battle. This news shocked many, as almost no one knew she had the disease beforehand.
In fact, He Chaohe was diagnosed with breast cancer in early 2020. However, she kept the information private, not sharing it with the outside world. Even during the difficult treatment process, she continued to manage her work and participate in charitable activities. Therefore, many people didn't realize she was battling the disease. Her resilience and discretion made the story even more touching to the public after it was revealed.
Her last public appearance was in November 2025 when she filmed a video urging people to vote for the Liaoning Provincial Congress in Hong Kong. In the video, she wore simple black attire and smiled gently. However, upon closer inspection, her face appeared slightly swollen, her body noticeably thinner, and her voice sounded tired. Later, media revealed that shortly after filming the video, she returned to the hospital for a check-up and received a diagnosis of poor health.
From the end of 2025, her condition rapidly deteriorated as the cancer cells spread. The Ho family utilized the best medical resources, but they were still unable to save her. In the last two weeks of her life, she saw few people, only four close siblings were by her side. On the morning of April 12, 2026, in the presence of Ho Siu-ching, Ho Siu-fung, Ho Siu-yi, and Ho Yu-long, she quietly passed away.
Dispute over inherited assets worth over 40 trillion VND.
Following her death, the issue of her assets also became a focal point of attention. Hong Kong media once estimated Ho Chiu-ha's assets to be at least HK$12 billion (equivalent to over VND 40 trillion). This included significant stakes in Shun Tak and Honghai Holdings, along with numerous properties and valuable investments. However, she never married and had no children, making the distribution of her assets a major question.
According to Hong Kong law, if there is no will, assets are divided among the closest relatives. In her case, that would be her four siblings from the second branch of the family. However, some suggest she may have made a will, bequeathing a portion of her assets to charity – a field she has been involved in for many years. Additionally, some theories suggest the assets may be in a family trust, managed by her eldest sister, Ho Siu-ching. Nevertheless, the Ho family has not released any official information.
In her philanthropic activities, Ho Chiu-ha always worked quietly. In 2024, after the major fire in Tai Po, she and her sister donated HK$10 million without public announcement. She was also a close friend of singer Miriam Yeung for over 20 years. Before her death, the singer broke down in tears while singing on stage, later revealing that it was a prayer for her close friend.
