Cat Tuyen - The first transgender female singer in Vietnam: 3 weddings, ex-husband still loves her to death

7 years running away from home in a bingo group

Cat Tuyen was born into a family with a tradition of reforming. Since childhood, Cat Tuyen has joined the Tien Giang literary troupe, wearing doll hair, girlish facial features and often singing female roles like Cao Nhi, Nghi Xuan...

Until one day, when the troupe in Vinh Kim, the owner of the bingo group saw that Cat Tuyen sang well and invited them to sing to attract guests. Seeing in the bingo groups "open" to people of the third sex, Cat Tuyen escaped from home to follow her to live her true self. That year, Cat Tuyen was only 11 years old.

Entering the bingo group, Cat Tuyen sold tickets to the fair, until he was 18 years old to sing on stage. After 7 years of standing on stage, Cat Tuyen established her own bingo group and then added 2 more in turn.

Cat Tuyen's first love was at the age of 22. At that time, Cat Tuyen was not transgender, but everywhere she went, she wore girl's clothes. Cat Tuyen fell in love with a guy, when he learned that Cat Tuyen had not had sex reassignment surgery, that person hugged Cat Tuyen crying.

Two people love each other passionately. They were engrossed in making money so that Cat Tuyen went to Thailand for surgery. Love is too warm, so sometimes Cat Tuyen feels "enough", she gradually cools her dream of being a real girl. Until one day, the family forced the boy to get married - get a true daughter!

After 7 years of close bond, their love story ended in bitter tears! Cat Tuyen desperately thought about death, but when she calmed down, she realized that she was not filial to her parents, so she was determined to hug all the gold coins and go to Thailand to transgender.

Experiencing physical pain, Cat Tuyen returned with the body of a beautiful girl. The ex-lover left his wife to come back, but the love had cooled down, so Cat Tuyen did not accept it.

The first gay wedding in Vietnam

In one time inviting artists to sing reinforcement for his bingo troupe, Cat Tuyen met Chinh Nhan. The two of them fell in love at any time. Chinh Nhan at that time had broken up with his previous wife and was raising children alone. Cat Tuyen loves him even more, so she wants to get married to share life.

But the love story Chinh Nhan - Cat Tuyen is also full of storms. 6 years of knowing each other, going through so many disagreements and pressures from friends, colleagues, family... they finally got together.

"My wedding with Chinh Nhan, there were many artists who came but did not dare to attend. They were afraid, halfway through, the police came, the Department of Culture came in, so they just came to send congratulatory money and then returned. The police came to invite me to work. It was around 4 or 5 pm I wore the bride's dress to meet.

I said: if you catch it, just catch it. Chinh Nhan and I went to get a marriage certificate, but it didn't work. Vietnam's marriage law does not allow gay people to get married, we have to accept it, but the law does not forbid us to get married," Cat Tuyen recalled.

In the family, the wedding was not present at Chinh Nhan's maternal house because his mother did not accept it. Even when the wedding party was held, Cat Tuyen - Chinh Nhan was still under too much pressure. A big part comes from the fact that Chinh Nhan is the son of the famous artist pair Bach Mai - Duc Loi. It was because of that pressure that Cat Tuyen was awkward.

Cat Tuyen once said: "In order to cut off the relationship between the two of us, my mother-in-law took care of Chinh Nhan to go to the US. I went to the US to find a husband. My mother found him and brought him back to Vietnam. Finally I gritted my teeth and broke up, even though I didn't know what to do. still love you so much!

I changed my phone number. I want everything to end well, want him to forget me and get another wife. Chinh Nhan is angry. He said, if he let him meet, he would kill me because I left him. In Chinh Nhan's eyes, I have never been transgender.

Farewell to Chinh Nhan, 7 years later I got married. Unfortunately, the marriage was not perfect. Loving people in the profession, outside the profession, I am not happy. Outsiders, they want to stay at home and do business, not let them sing. I would rather leave my husband than quit singing.

But the biggest reason is probably because we don't have children. The child is the bond between two people that is stronger and happier, but we don't have it. I think, if you are happy in your marriage, you will live together forever, if you are happy, then you will go away on your own. I don't want to be beautiful at first and then unhappy."

10 years later, they meet again in the situation that Chinh Nhan is seriously ill. The day they met again, they still gave each other the same feelings as the first days "For the rest of my life, you are still my husband"!

3 times married, U50 million dollar property

Cat Tuyen once said: "I don't know Thai, but after being transgender, I stayed there and got married. A Thai guy. I got married 3 times. I got married in 3 countries with 3 husbands".

Cat Tuyen has been married 3 times, but all are unfinished. She also had many beautiful relationships, but none of them came to fruition. A few years ago, Cat Tuyen once boasted that her fiancé was a businessman, 10 years younger than her. He has broken up his marriage and is raising children. The two cherished a beautiful wedding in early 2019 but then quietly parted ways when the wedding day was near.

Currently, Cat Tuyen is also happy with a boyfriend of the same profession. She said, if the love is ripe, she will get on the flower car again.

Cat Tuyen is 48 years old this year, she settled in the US with her adoptive mother but still often goes back to Vietnam. Her income in the US mainly comes from renting houses. The female singer owns a fortune of millions of dollars in the US. One of them, to mention the angel villa, nearly 4 million dollars is located in San Joe, Northern California, USA.

In Vietnam, Cat Tuyen owns massive properties in both Saigon and Can Tho. Her house in My Tho is extremely majestic, located right in front of the main road, elaborately built, inlaid with splendid gold.
