The 2024 VMAs (MTV Video Music Awards) took place on the morning of September 12 (Vietnam time) in New York, USA. This is a major music award in the US and the world, honoring the greatest artists and musical works of the year.

Rising star Sabrina Carpenter won Song of the Year for her 2024 hit Espresso. "I feel so grateful, I really have the best fans in the world. I know it sounds cheesy, but I love you guys," the blonde beauty said while accepting the award.

The Best New Artist award went to Chappell Roan. In her acceptance speech, Chappell Roan thanked everyone who followed her, especially her LGBTQ fans.

Beating out a number of strong contenders, female singer Tyla won the Best Afrobeat Song category for Water. The list of winners at the 2024 VMAs also included Best Hip-Hop Song for Houdini by Eminem, Best R&B Song for Snooze by SZA, and Best Latin Song for Mil Veces by Anitta.

The 2024 VMAs also featured explosive, creative performances. The brightest was Katy Perry's medley of Dark Horse, ET, Teenage Dream, I Kissed a Girl, Firework and Lifetimes. The highlight of the performance was the 8X singer's swinging in the air. She also won the Video Vanguard trophy.
