Meritorious Artist Thu Huyen is one of the famous cheo artists of Vietnam. Her name is associated with excellent roles in cheo plays, leaving a deep impression in the hearts of the audience such as the role of Thi Mau in the play "Quan Am Thi Kinh".

Meritorious Artist Thu Huyen, born in 1975 in Hanoi, is a famous cheo artist. Born in a family where no one does art, Thu Huyen loves art very much. From a young age, her mother sent her to participate in singing classes at the Children's Palace. When he was 14 years old, he heard that Hanoi Cheo Doan (now Hanoi Cheo Theater) was recruiting students. At that time, Hanoi Cheo Doan was "fever" with the play "Nang Sita", Huyen as well as many small girls that day. All of them idolized and wished to be like Sita, so Huyen took the entrance exam and was accepted into the Union.

In more than 20 years of dedication, the name of Meritorious Artist Thu Huyen is associated with the "lifetime" role of Thi Mau in the cheo play "Quan Am Thi Kinh". She impresses the audience with her "swirly" sharp eyes and smooth voice. Besides, Thu Huyen has won many gold medals at national rowing theater festivals.

Meritorious Artist Thu Huyen recounted that she was nicknamed 'Thi Mau' and 'Huyen Cheo' by everyone since winning the first prize for Young Stage Talent in the role of Thi Mau at the age of 23. Although not a child of the family, Thu Huyen has been an art lover since childhood, everyone in her family also loves art.

As one of Vietnam's most famous cheo artists, she did not build a name as loudly as other arts, but went up with her ability and passion for the traditional sport of rowing.

Thu Huyen shared that in the past, there were not many art forms, only tuong, cheo, cai luong and a few music stages, so cheo artists had many audiences. However, in 1992 when she graduated from school, that time began to integrate, so there were more art forms. At that time, Tuong, Cheo, and Cai Luong were forced to share the market share with the audience.

She confided: "I still remember a time when the audience didn't care about cheo. There were many cheo artists on the street who didn't even dare to claim to be cheo actors. That's also what made me and other artists in the field. The traditional sector feels disheartened.

I know that, but I can't love when I'm in good shape, or leave when I'm depressed, so I'm still determined to pursue my passion. Maybe I was young at that time, so I was still innocent enough to overcome the difficulties at that time. When I pursue a job of my choice, I always want to devote myself to it."

"Currently, Cheo has to divide the audience's market share among other arts, but I still insist that Cheo is a traditional art that will never be lost. It is not correct to say that rowing now has no audience. Our author is very calm, quiet, gentle but still loves rowing..."

In 2017, Meritorious Artist Thu Huyen became the Deputy Artistic Director of Hanoi Cheo Theater and now, she has been given the decision to assign the task of running Hanoi Cheo Theater instead of People's Artist Quoc Anh.

Meritorious Artist Thu Huyen also said that she is still on stage if she has a suitable role. If there are shows that need her to support young people, she is still ready to support.

Talking about her private life, "Thi Mau" Meritorious Artist Thu Huyen has a sweet and romantic love story with male singer Tan Minh. In 2004, the couple officially got married. Before that, they had 10 years as both friends and lovers.

On the cheo stage, Thu Huyen once made a mark with the image of Thi Mau flirtatious and sharp. In real life, she won the sympathy of the opposite person thanks to her charm and gentleness. Since the day she settled down in 2004, the audience rarely saw Huyen "rowing" on stage because she accepted to retreat to the back to nurture her small family.

As a girl who was pampered by her parents since childhood, but when she got married, Thu Huyen did not mind anything from cooking, washing to taking care of children. Knowing her husband was tired after a stressful day at work, she always told herself to limit the woman's bad habit of nagging. Thu Huyen said, for nearly 20 years of living together, she and her husband have never raised their voices to each other. Whenever two people argue about a certain issue, seeing her husband angry, she takes the initiative to stop immediately.

On the contrary, when his wife is angry, Tan Minh often goes out to avoid tense arguments. The couple believes that in marriage, there is no right or wrong, who is better than anyone, so the most important thing is mutual tolerance. When asked about her husband's bad habits, Thu Huyen witty said: "He has a lot of bad habits. But instead of forcing him to change, I find a way to reconcile myself." Tan Minh is currently the Deputy Director of Thang Long Music and Dance Theater, and Thu Huyen is the Head of the 2nd troupe - Hanoi Cheo Theatre. However, she and her husband have never used work as an excuse for neglecting family and children.
