Sang Vlog (real name Tran Van Sang, born in 1995) is a famous YouTuber. Together with some neighborhood kids, he specializes in creating content about country cuisine, rustic rural life and survival challenges.
Recently, Sang Vlog has suddenly revealed many signs of instability, making netizens worried. After the tearful clip announcing a temporary halt to making videos on July 30, the clip of the 'poorest YouTuber in Vietnam' continued to spread on social networks, revealing the situation of being in debt and having to sell the durian garden.
In this clip, Sang Vlog confided that he bought a 2.5 hectare plot of land in Lam Dong in 2020 and planted 350 durian trees. At that time, he only had 400 million left in hand, not enough money, so he had to borrow money to buy, planning to save up the money he earned every month to pay off the debt. However, not only buying the land, Sang also had to spend other expenses to take care of the garden, at one point the cost for the garden was up to 35 million/month. That's why up to now, after more than 3 years of investment, Sang still hasn't paid off the debt.
"To tell you the truth, over the past few years, Sang has had some extra money making videos. After paying the kids their salaries, there's some extra money, and there's a lot of extra money, but there's money to take care of the garden, this interest, money to take care of Bao Bao and Boi Boi, family expenses,...
There was a huge mistake when Sang took this land, buried all of Sang's money here to build a wooden house up there. After struggling for nearly 3 years, the debt that Sang borrowed to buy this land still cannot be paid to this day" - Sang Vlog said.
Specifically, the wooden house built in the garden also "ate" Sang about several hundred million. Initially, he planned to use it to sell dried buffalo meat but could not find an outlet so it is currently empty, leaving it for the gardener to live in.
In addition to paying off debt, another reason Sang Vlog decided to sell the garden was because he wanted to renovate his family's house. According to him, the house was built on a sinking ground so it was prone to collapse, and the walls were cracked and water seeped in every time it rained. Not knowing if the house would last through the year, Sang wanted to renovate it properly and have a place for his family to live.
"When I decided to sell this land, Sang was very sad. Because this is how much effort and dedication Sang has put into it, taking care of the tree from when it was a little bit until it grew to this size, and now having to sell it is a pity, a great pity. But there is no other solution, this is the last resort...".
It is known that Sang Vlog's clip of selling his garden was posted on June 27. In the comments section, many people sympathized with him and expressed regret, hoping that Sang would soon overcome this difficult period.
In addition, many people are also surprised by the current situation of Sang Vlog. Because with a YouTube channel of 4.5 million subscribers and nearly 1.4 billion views, Sang is said to have a not small source of income. According to statistics from Social Blade, Sang's income from YouTube channel can range from 49.6 - 794.2 thousand USD/year (about 1.2 - 20 billion VND).
However, in reality, the income from YouTube of channel owners in Vietnam is still a mystery and there is no formula to measure it accurately. Social Blade's calculations are only given in the form of estimates and have extremely large fluctuations.
Previously, fame helped the hot YouTuber have a more stable income. In September 2020, Sang Vlog repaired his house, from a tiny bamboo house into 2 wooden houses and 1 construction house, with wooden boards and a more solid tiled floor.
In April 2022, he showed off the house he gave to his mother and wife. It is known that the house was originally an old house from the previous owner but Sang Vlog renovated it to be cleaner and tidier. In addition, Sang Vlog also used the money he earned to support poor children and do charity work, not taking all of it for himself.
