Hanbin , real name Ngo Ngoc Hung, was born and raised in the land of talented people Yen Bai. As the first Vietnamese Kpop idol in history, he was recruited into the boy group TEMPEST under the giant Yuehua, becoming the eldest brother of the group.
Before "betting" his career in Korea, Hanbin was the leader of the famous cover dance group CAC in Vietnam.
In 2020, Hanbin became the center of attention when he participated in the survival show I-LAND (selecting male trainees to debut in a new music group) co-produced by CJ ENM and BigHit (HYBE). His appearance ignited pride and fueled the dream of becoming a Kpop idol, which seemed far-fetched to young Vietnamese people.
As one of the most prominent contestants, he once ranked 4th globally in episode 10 with more than 1.4 million votes. His Twitter account (now X app) gained more than 150,000 followers in just 24 hours. Unfortunately, Hanbin stopped at 10th place in the finale, after which he returned to the gym to train himself.
The word "give up" has never been in the dictionary of the boy from Yen Bai. Hanbin continues to prove that as long as he gives his all, his dreams will come true. In 2022, he joined Yuehua Entertainment and officially debuted with TEMPEST - marking the first time a Vietnamese boy "entered" the Kpop market.
At the WeChoice Awards 2023 Gala, Hanbin was named for the Rising Artist category. In June 2024, the TEMPEST band had their first concert in Ho Chi Minh City, attracting nearly 4,000 spectators. This is considered a sweet response from their hometown to Hanbin for not giving up on his journey to pursue his passion for music.
Although he mainly works in Korea – where the entertainment industry is always vibrant and competitive, Hanbin always maintains his patriotism and national pride. In interviews, livestreams or exchanges, he often proudly mentions his homeland Vietnam as an indispensable part of his artistic path.
On important holidays such as September 2, April 30 or Lunar New Year, Hanbin always sends sincere congratulations, takes photos with the national flag and Ao Dai, his heart always turns towards the Fatherland. These simple but emotional actions not only make the Vietnamese fan community more proud but also leave a good impression in the eyes of international fans about a delicate artist who knows how to respect his roots.
Hanbin always follows every activity of the fan community in his home country, from projects welcoming him back to Vietnam in the summer of 2025 to charity activities. Many times, Hanbin silently "likes" fan posts, or shares activities carried out by iE Vietnam, as a way to encourage and thank from afar, silently but full of national spirit.
Fans love Hanbin not because of his title "Vietnamese idol in Kpop", but because he truly deserves the spotlight - thanks to his efforts, professional attitude and never-give-up journey of "dare to be passionate, dare to do".
At the K-Star Spark in Vietnam concert, which took place on June 21 at My Dinh National Stadium (Hanoi), Hanbin not only shared the stage with famous seniors but also took on the important responsibility of being the MC leading the program in front of 40,000 spectators in his hometown. This was a great honor for Hanbin, marking a proud milestone between him and his fans.
K-Star Spark in Vietnam is the most anticipated music festival of the summer of 2025, promising to bring the ultimate music experience and many historic moments of the Hallyu wave in Vietnam. The festival night brings together a line-up of hot stars such as "Kpop king" G-Dragon, CL, DPR IAN, TEMPEST and tripleS.
The event promises to bring top-notch performances, world-class sound and lighting systems. The program is not only a place to satisfy artistic passion, but also becomes an unforgettable part of the fans' youth, a place to connect like-minded souls, awakening memories of the youthful years when they waited for the appearance of their idols in Vietnam.
