Born on July 16, 1943 in Hai Phong, singer Le Thu's real name is Bui Thi Oanh. The youngest Le Thu is the only child left in the family's 8 children because 7 other siblings have passed away. In 1959, during a visit to Bong Lai tea room to listen to music, at the encouragement of friends, Le Thu stepped on stage to perform the song Unfinished, at that time she was still studying in French high school.

Le Thu singing was also one of the factors that attracted guests to the discos in the years 1968-1971.

She married a third time to a journalist in 1974 and had one more daughter. Misfortune still did not let go of Le Thu when she discovered that her husband had another woman, this marriage only lasted 10 years and ended. Le Thu self-identifies as a fool, shy and passive in love after experiencing three marriage breakdowns. Although very infatuated, she still could not keep the following relationships.

Le Thu once said sadly about failures in love: "Nature is inherently fair, if you give me a little beauty, a little talent, I have to get something back.
