Biography of the newly arrested street knight Nguyen Thanh Hai, revealing a sophisticated trick

Stressful "rescue" videos help TikToker Huynh Cao Cuong score strong points on social networks with the image of gratitude. But in fact, these clips are staged to manipulate trust, serving the purpose of profiting from the victim's tragedy.
The choking reunions spread on social networks were once considered a miracle amid the tragedy of Vietnamese workers being tricked into going to Cambodia. However, behind many of these humanitarian videos, there exists a coldly calculated scenario, where the victim's family's fear is turned into a money-making tool. The case of Huynh Cao Cuong was arrested by the Criminal Police Department of the Ho Chi Minh City Police. The destruction of Ho Chi Minh City has exposed the entire sophisticated profiteering mechanism from cross-border "redemption" activities.
According to investigation documents, Huynh Cao Cuong did not directly organize the rescue, but played the role of coordinator and broker. However, in cyberspace, this subject wears the image of a "professional rescuer", knowledgeable about Cambodia and capable of influencing many groups managing illegal labor detention facilities. With hundreds of thousands of followers on TikTok and Facebook, Cuong constantly broadcasts the message that he is a rare person capable of bringing victims home quickly and safely.
To build trust, Cuong invests heavily in media content. The videos are staged according to familiar motifs: warning of the trap of "light work with high pay", recounting the dangerous rescue journey, mixed with images of the family bursting when relatives return. At the same time, the subject does not hesitate to incite other individuals to join in the ransom activity, labeling them as a donkey, in order to eliminate the opponent and push himself to the position of "only trustworthy".
In fact, according to the verification results, many of the dramatic episodes in the clips are for illustrative purposes only. Cuong did not directly face danger as shown online. After receiving information about the victim's location, the subject contacted the Cambodian contacts to ask for the actual ransom price. From this figure, Cuong actively raised the price when working with the victim's family, creating a large difference to benefit.
The condemnable point lies in the fact that the subject thoroughly exploits the psychology of panic. When they know that their relatives are physically impacted, threatened or forced to work in bad conditions, the families have almost no choice but to accept the price Cuong offers. In many cases, they have to take out hot loans, pledge assets, and even sell houses to have money to transfer urgently. Meanwhile, the amount of money actually needed to "redeem" people is much lower than the number announced.
The investigating agency determined that if the family delayed or showed bargaining, Cuong was willing to stop contacting, even though the victim continued to be detained. This shows that the nature of the case does not have any humanitarian elements, but is purely a business on the misery of others. From 2023 until his arrest, Cuong participated in about 30 ransom cases, illegally profiting up to billions of VND.
The case is a clear demonstration of the downside of social media, where trust can be manipulated with emotions. Authorities recommend that when detecting relatives being deceived abroad, people need to immediately report to the local police, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs or Vietnamese representative agencies abroad. Reaching out to individuals who claim to "rescue" not only carries the risk of losing money, but can also expose victims to more serious risks.
