Mysterious village in Japan: People live with hundreds of creepy dolls

At the end of November, Tran Tam (Dong Thap) was busy preparing to return to Japan after a few days of visiting home. In addition to clothes and personal belongings, he also brought more than 130 filtered flour cakes wrapped by his mother for him to give to friends to remember the taste of his hometown.
Tam shared that this is the third time he has visited his family from Japan during 5 years of working in the land of the rising sun. Every time he returns, he tries to collect gifts from his hometown to bring back, but mainly dry food. This time, because he wanted to surprise his friends, he brought his freshly boiled mother's cake and also had a bad cry and laugh because of that.
Don't go through the security door just because... Meat and shrimp filling
The "fateful" moment took place right at the Tan Son Nhat check-in counter. The airline staff saw the bag and asked him what he was carrying inside. Tam was honest: "Filtered flour cake filled with shrimp and meat made by my mother and brought it to you". Immediately, the staff reminded: it is not allowed to bring products containing meat into Japan, even those that have been processed. Tam was confused: "I thought that only vegetables and fresh fruits were banned, I didn't expect that even pork and beef cooked in the cake were not allowed."
Japanese regulations clearly state: all foods made from pork, beef... are prohibited from entering the country without inspection, including in fresh, frozen or cooked form, even in banh chung or mooncakes filled with meat. When she realized that there was no way to send it back or open the inspection, Tam could only look at the bag of cakes her mother made and try to "rescue".
Sitting and eating alone in the middle of the airport: "When I get to the 30th, I want to collapse"
I didn't know anyone, I didn't dare to invite anyone, and I couldn't bring it on the plane. Tam decided to eat alone. At the waiting area for boarding, he slowly peeled off each filtered flour cake and enjoyed it, regretting both his mother's work and his mother's work.
"Getting 30 is bearable, bored to the neck," he said. That was also the time when he was forced to leave more than 100 cakes intact, leaving his favorite dish.
Tam humorously said: "Maybe in a few years I will dare to eat filtered flour cake again" â a statement that sounds both sad and helpless.
Clip on TikTok suddenly attracts interaction
It's just a small story, but everyone who watches it sees... it is a matter of Vietnamese people far from home. When posting a short video on her personal TikTok account, Tam didn't think the clip would go viral and received a series of comments that were both sad and funny. Many young people shared that they also wanted to bring hometown specialties abroad but did not know which items were prohibited.
Tam joked: "My mother didn't know about the viral clip, only a few acquaintances jokingly messaged: 'Eat a little bit, but now the whole country knows'." Even though it's just an ironic situation, Tam still hopes that her story will help people pay more attention when packing things to go abroad. Especially young people like to bring hometown gifts to give to friends â both meaningful but also necessary to comply with regulations to avoid falling into the situation of "eating cakes reluctantly" like him.
A little lesson for every flight
Hometown gifts are precious, but understanding the regulations is even more important. Tran Tam's story is being widely shared not only because of its humor, but also because it reflects a very familiar habit of Vietnamese expatriates: to bring a little taste of their homeland far away.
What Tam encountered is also a reminder for anyone who is preparing to go to Japan (or other countries with strict quarantine regulations) to carefully check the list of prohibited carriages. Especially the food group with pork â beef â poultry, including cooked, dried, packaged or baked.
A filter flour cake may not be big, but the story of it makes many young people "break" quite a bit before each international flight.
