According to information from Dan Tri newspaper, the person mentioned in the stories circulating on the Internet is named T.M.T. (born in 1978, hometown of Ninh Thuan, now in Khanh Hoa province). Previously, he was ordained and studied at Lac Nghiep Pagoda, located in the former Ninh Thuan province.

By the end of the afternoon on December 3, 2025, Mr. T. was present at Quan Am Pagoda, in Dong Hai Ward, Khanh Hoa Province to express his desire to renounce the vows and return to secular life. This declaration was made in front of many people present at the temple.

Venerable Thich Nhuan Minh, a monk who was practicing at Quan Am Pagoda, confirmed that he was the one who directly witnessed and received T.M.T.'s declaration of renunciation at the above time. After this event, Mr. T. officially left the monastic life.

The Buddhist Church of Vietnam said that as of December 3, 2025, T.M.T. is no longer a monk and does not belong to the Sangha's living system.
