From a film project originally named "Grandma Don't be sad about me" â imbued with family affection, director Hoang Nam's film suddenly turned direction, putting on a new look with a contemporary breath.
The complete version launched with the name "Miracle Generation" has attracted the attention of the audience not only because of the change in the title, but also because of the new spirit and message: encouraging the young generation to dare to dream, dare to do and constantly create in the digital age.
According to director Hoang Nam, the decision to change the name of the film was made just over a month before the release date â a seemingly reckless but landmark change. After the post-production process, he realized that the old title could not fully convey the spirit that the work was aiming for. "The name Don't Be Sad, I am very affectionate, but it makes viewers think that this is a pure family movie. While in fact, the work contains more than that â the aspiration, the will of young people who want to break through to create their own miracles," he shared.
The director also said that he is a technology lover and has a special passion for the world of online games. He believes that Vietnam can completely create games of international stature â both entertaining and transmitting national culture. The main character in "Miracle Generation" is the embodiment of that dream: a young man who aspires to make a game with Vietnamese imprints to reach the world.
The spirit of "miracles" is portrayed as a symbol of efforts to exceed one's own limits. The film is not only about the journey of success but also a series of challenges, stumbles, and the never-ending faith of young people in the technological era. Despite the change of direction, Hoang Nam still retains the underlying emotional circuit â the deep relationship between the grandmother and the grandchild â to balance ideals and emotions, making the work both warm and inspiring.
In the film, Tien (played by Tran Tu) is a man in his twenties who grew up in poverty, his parents were absent, only his grandmother (People's Artist Thanh Hoa) was the one who always loved, tolerated and silently watched every step of his grandson's growth. It is that love that helps Tien to be consistent in the face of prejudices: being looked down on because of "game addiction", being considered "useless". But he still persistently pursued his dream of creating a Vietnamese game.
Accompanying Tien is a group of enthusiastic young friends: Linh (Hong Khanh), Huy Fam (Huy Vo), Hong Candy (Duong Hoang Hai) and cousin Trang (Tra My). Each character represents a different piece of the new generation â dynamic, creative, and not afraid to fail. The film trailer also attracts attention with the special appearance of cybersecurity expert Hieu PC as a guest, as an emphasis on topical topics: online games and information security in the digital world.
Director Hoang Nam shared that he wanted to send a message about the power of aspiration through the film. According to him, "if every young person makes a little more effort, dares to go with passion, the country will have more miracles â not from miracles, but from the wisdom and spirit of Vietnam itself".
"Miracle Generation" is also noticed by a multi-generational cast. Besides People's Artist Thanh Hoa as a grandmother â her first time participating in a drama film role â there is also the presence of People's Artist Bui Bai Binh, Artist Afternoon Xuan, Quach Thu Phuong, Ha Huong, Tuan Hung and a cast of young actors such as Tran Tu, Huy Vo, Duong Hoang Hai, Tra My (also known as the Dream Girl).
In particular, Hong Khanh â the daughter of People's Artist Afternoon Xuan and musician Do Hong Quan â marked a turning point in her career when she took on the role of the female lead Linh. Her character is a symbol of optimism and belief in youth, bringing a breath of fresh air to the film.
