News that composer Pham Tuyen is in critical condition due to a lung disease has caused concern among many fans. His family confirmed that he has suffered from chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) for many years and is currently on oxygen and receiving intensive care.

Social media is circulating information suggesting that composer Pham Tuyen is in a very serious condition, suffering from a severe lung disease and requiring mechanical ventilation. This information quickly attracted the attention of many music lovers, especially those who have been associated with his famous songs, causing many to express their concern.

Speaking to the press, journalist Pham Hong Tuyen – the youngest daughter of musician Pham Tuyen – confirmed that her father's health is indeed facing many difficulties. For many years, he has been battling chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD). According to the family, one of the musician's lungs has become stiff, severely impairing his breathing and significantly affecting his physical condition.

Journalist Pham Hong Tuyen said: "Every day, he has to take medication, use nebulizers, and breathe oxygen. On cold days, his family has to provide special care to avoid affecting his lungs."

The musician's health is deteriorating due to old age and multiple underlying health conditions. His daughter shared: "My father doesn't have much time left; he's like a flickering oil lamp in the wind. He suffers from many underlying illnesses, with COPD being the most difficult to breathe and the one that weakens his health the most. Although he has difficulty speaking, gets tired from talking a lot, his eyesight isn't as good as before, and he needs assistance with mobility, he remains lucid and proactive in personal hygiene."

Despite his declining health, composer Pham Tuyen remains alert and interested in the world around him. According to his family, he still spends time each day watching television and reading newspapers to keep up with current events. Family members closely monitor his condition day and night to promptly address any unusual symptoms.

"Every day, he still watches TV, reads books and newspapers... to keep up with social news. His family monitors all his daily activities 24/7 and is always on 'standby' whenever something goes wrong," journalist Pham Hong Tuyen said.

One detail that surprised the family recently was that the musician's hair had turned black again after many years of being completely white. His daughter recounted that before Tet (Lunar New Year), when the barber came to the house, he exclaimed in surprise: "Wow, your hair is black again!" This small change brought joy to the family members and was seen as a positive sign amidst his declining health.

Currently, composer Pham Tuyen lives in a small apartment of less than 70 square meters on Van Bao Street in Hanoi. This is where he spent more than three decades with his late wife, Nguyen Anh Tuyet. After her death in 2009, he has kept the apartment's decor exactly as it was before, considering it a way to preserve the memory of his life partner.

Despite his declining health, the family still tries to bring him joyful moments. In early January 2026, his children and grandchildren organized a small musical program called "Spring Wishes" to celebrate his 96th birthday. According to journalist Pham Hong Tuyen, since 2017 – when her father's health began to deteriorate – she has always tried to maintain the tradition of celebrating his birthday annually to bring him joy and also as an opportunity for the family to reunite.
