The scandal of singing an offensive song without censorship has put Jack in a difficult position: The male singer suddenly announced to temporarily suspend all artistic activities, including scheduled Liveshows, after admitting his mistake to the cultural management agency.
Late on the evening of October 29, singer Jack (real name Trinh Tran Phuong Tuan) officially updated his status on his personal page, announcing an important decision after a series of controversies about lyrics that negatively affected culture. The male singer confirmed that he had a direct meeting with the Hanoi Department of Culture and Sports, and at the same time sent a sincere apology to the audience, taking full responsibility for the past controversies. This move was accompanied by an affirmation that he would review and strictly censor all creative activities in the future.
Notably, right after the apology post, Jack continued to announce the decision to temporarily suspend all performing activities in the near future. Accordingly, the Liveshow Tram Dung Chan scheduled to be held on November 1, 2025 in Ha Long was also canceled. In the announcement sent to the audience, partners, and the Organizing Committee, Jack explained that this was a necessary time to "temporarily step back," listen to opinions from management agencies and audiences, thereby perfecting himself in a more meticulous way for the upcoming artistic journey. He expressed his wish to receive sympathy from the units that have accompanied him.
The Origin of Uncensored Songs
The incident stemmed from Jack's controversial performance at the Moonlit Childhood event on the evening of October 16. Here, the male singer performed a completely new song, never licensed and without an official name. The key point that caused a strong reaction from the audience was a rap with a sentence that was considered obscene and culturally incorrect: "Respect all Laotians".
Immediately after the incident, the program's Organizing Committee, represented by designer TL, issued an apology, affirming that this was an "unscripted incident" and that Jack's performance was a spontaneous, uncensored performance. At the same time, Jack's management company, J97 Promotion, also spoke up, trying to explain that the audience had misheard the unfinished lyrics, and the original intention was not to have obscene lyrics as speculated.
Cultural Administration Speaks Out to Reject Explanation
However, the artist's explanation has met with strong reactions and decisive intervention from the authorities. On the morning of October 27, the Department of Performing Arts and the Department of Radio, Television and Electronic Information (Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism) held a working session to rectify the situation of songs with offensive content.
Mr. Le Quang Tu Do â Director of the Department of Radio, Television and Electronic Information â confirmed that he had coordinated with the Hanoi Department of Culture and Sports and discovered that Jack's performance had signs of serious violations of content regulations.
Mr. Tu Do emphasized: "The Department listened to it over and over again, slowed down the playback speed to listen and confirmed that the management unit's explanation was a sign of defense." The authorities thoroughly checked and clearly confirmed that the lyrics in the song were problematic from the beginning. Specifically, regarding the controversial lyrics, Mr. Tu Do affirmed that after slowing down the playback speed for verification, the singer actually sang that line, not like the vague explanation about the word "I" or "Ton" that Jack's side gave.
In addition, the reason for "improvisation" that the singer cited was also completely rejected. Mr. Le Quang Tu Do pointed out: "Clearly, the performance had a dance team that matched the rhythm, proving that it was rehearsed in advance, and cannot be considered improvisation." This further reinforces the perception of a lack of responsibility in censoring content before the performance.
