Miss Do Thi Ha's family contributed 2.6 billion VND to do something special in the countryside, the whole neighborhood is proud

At the end of the Year of the Tiger, Miss Do Thi Ha's hometown is bustling to welcome Tet and inaugurate a new plastic carpet route funded by her family, contributing to changing the appearance of the countryside and improving people's lives.

One day at the end of the Year of the Tiger, Cau Thon village in the old Cau Loc commune, now Dong Thanh commune (Hau Loc district, Thanh Hoa province) became busier than usual. When the atmosphere of the Lunar New Year is approaching, the local people are even more excited because the family of Miss Vietnam 2020 Do Thi Ha coordinates with the government to organize the inauguration ceremony of the new asphalt carpet route connecting through the village center.

This road has played a lifeline role in the rural transportation system of Dong Thanh commune. Sharing with reporters, Mr. Do Van Cao – the father of Miss Do Thi Ha – said that in the past, the route had a small cross-section, seriously deteriorated, causing many difficulties for travel and transportation of goods. Every time it rains heavily, water floods the road surface, causing people's daily activities and production to be almost interrupted.

"Especially in the rainy and stormy season, roads are often flooded, so traveling, trading, and connecting between villages and communes is very difficult," Mr. Cao said. With the desire to contribute to the construction of the homeland, with the consent of the local government, Mr. Cao's family has invested funds to upgrade and renovate the road in the form of socialization. The total amount of the project is about 2.6 billion VND. According to Mr. Cao, this is the common contribution of the whole family, including Miss Do Thi Ha's part.

"The funding for building the road is for the whole family, including Ha's contribution," Mr. Cao shared. Not only Miss Do Thi Ha's family, dozens of households living along the route also voluntarily donated land, reversed the fence to expand the road surface. Mr. Son, a resident of Cau Thon village, said that in the past, the road in front of his house was narrow and muddy, and the travel was very miserable. When he heard that Mr. Cao's family supported the construction of the road, he and other households agreed to demolish the wall and donate land.

"When the road is completed and put into use, everyone in the village is happy. From a narrow concrete road, now it has become a spacious asphalt road, cars can avoid each other comfortably," Mr. Son said.

The project will start in July 2025. Due to the influence of prolonged rain and storms, the old road surface is low, located next to the field, so the transportation of materials is mainly by hand, and the construction process faces many difficulties. However, thanks to the determination of the family and the support of the people, the route was completed on schedule.

The joy comes not only to adults but also to children in the village who clearly feel the change. Nguyen Trung Hieu shared: "In the past, the road was very narrow and ugly, it was very difficult to walk, so I had to ride a bicycle to avoid going to school. Now that I have this road, I will go to school faster and cleaner."

Ms. Nguyen Thi Lien – Chairwoman of Dong Thanh Commune People's Committee – assessed that the completion and putting into use of the Cau Thon village road is the result of the attention and direction of the government, the consensus of the people and especially the great contribution from the family of Mr. Do Van Cao and Miss Do Thi Ha.

"The road is expanded and upgraded in the form of socialization, non-refundable. This is a project of practical significance, contributing to improving rural transport infrastructure, creating a driving force for socio-economic development, and improving people's lives," Ms. Lien emphasized.

According to the leader of Dong Thanh commune, this project continues to affirm the effectiveness of the socialization policy in infrastructure investment, clearly demonstrating the motto: "The people do – The State manages – The community benefits". Not only a new path, this is also a symbol of the sense of responsibility and love of the children of the homeland for the land where they were born.
