After living for eight years in his valuable, approximately 1,600 m², antique house in Dong Nai, worth hundreds of billions of VND, artist Hoang Map recently officially moved with his family to a newly built villa in Di Linh.
Sharing his feelings on the day of handing over the house, Hoang Map couldn't hide his emotions. He confessed: "The sadness of moving house. When I built this house, I thought I would live here with my family for Tet (Lunar New Year) forever. Eight springs have passed, and my family and I have so many sweet memories here. But this year, 2026, my family and I will be moving elsewhere." These heartfelt words show Hoang Map's deep attachment to the property he poured so much heart and soul into building.
According to the artist, although he's moving, the old house hasn't been sold yet. For the time being, he's entrusted it to a close friend to look after. "The house hasn't been sold yet; I've just handed it over to a close friend to live in and take care of it for me. Seeing that my friend also loves old houses and nature, I feel somewhat more at ease leaving. Sometimes, life's plans don't always go as planned," Hoàng Map shared. He said he's still waiting for someone truly "worthy" to take over the house that he considers a part of his flesh and blood.
The old house in Dong Nai is not only the home of Hoang Map's family, but also a familiar setting for many television dramas. Here, the male artist has filmed more than 10 works with a vintage feel, such as: "The Haunted House of Mr. Hoang ," "The House of Mr. Hoang with Gold ," "The Happy House ," " The Slanted Afternoon," "Love Contract ," "The Vastness of the World ," "Meaning Greater Than Love ," " Yellow Crane Tower ," " Against the Current of Silver Waves ," "My Mother Is a Tycoon ," etc. Therefore, the house is also associated with professional memories and many close relationships within the artistic community.
Contacted by reporters, Hoang Map said he burst into tears when handing over the house. "When I built this house, I thought I would be attached to it until I die, I even had my picture placed in the house for worship. In front is a wide lake, behind is a range of hills, the scenery is very picturesque," he said. In the moment of farewell, Hoang Map recalled familiar faces who had appeared, eaten, and rested there such as Viet Huong, Ngoc Lan, Huy Khanh, Thuy Trang, Quach Ngoc Ngoan, Ngan Quynh, Tieu Bao Quoc, Dong Duong, Tran Kim Hai, Le Trung Hieu, Miss Dang Thu Thao, Ha Tri Quang, Tri Dung...
The male artist said that every painting, Buddha statue, bed, or wooden cabinet in the house is associated with unforgettable memories. He admitted that he finds it very difficult psychologically to think about selling the house. "Every time a potential buyer wants to view the house, my heart aches. When I need money, I want to sell, but when I think about having to leave, I can't bring myself to do it," Hoang Map confided.
Hoang Map's mansion is located in Trang Bom district, Dong Nai province, about 45 km from Ho Chi Minh City, and is built in the ancient style of a traditional courtyard house. The main house is a more than 100-year-old house from Nam Dinh, which he meticulously transported to the South and had assembled by craftsmen from the North. All the interior furnishings are rare antiques that Hoang Map has collected over many years, with a total value reaching tens of billions of VND. He has shared with the media that his bed alone costs 2.3 billion VND, and his koi pond is worth about 5 billion VND, with fish imported directly from Japan.
This old villa was built by Hoang Map over a period of 3 years, the result of the efforts of his entire family, from planting trees and maintaining the landscape to preserving every small detail. Therefore, leaving is not just a house move, but also a regrettable farewell to a significant part of the artist's life.
