The two adopted daughters of the late singer Phi Nhung have for the first time shared their memories of their childhood singing careers and the fateful turning point that led them to their special mother. Their sharing has revealed glimpses of their journey filled with destiny and shared experiences.
In The Khang Show , the late singer Phi Nhung's two adopted daughters, Thieng Ngan and Tuyet Nhung, shared touching stories about their special journey to their late adoptive mother. Their simple, heartfelt accounts not only revealed how they met but also vividly portrayed the love, compassion, and devotion the late artist had for her children.
Sharing her story on the program, singer Tuyet Nhung recalled her childhood, which was filled with singing sessions with her biological father. She recounted, "Before meeting my mother, Phi Nhung, I was a little girl who sang with my biological father, who specialized in playing the guitar. We sang at all kinds of events, but most often at funerals because my father played traditional instruments and rarely sang at weddings." Because she frequently sang in somber atmospheres, Tuyet Nhung became accustomed to melancholic songs. She further confessed, "That's why I sang many sad songs, so when I sang at weddings, I would bring out those sad songs, which made people unhappy." When she was young, this was overlooked, but as she grew older, she understood that she needed to change to be more suitable.
A major tragedy struck when her biological father passed away, leaving Tuyet Nhung to struggle alone in pursuing her passion for singing. She had previously registered for The Voice Kids Vietnam but didn't achieve the desired results. Just when she felt hopeless, a neighbor helped her find an opportunity to meet singer Phi Nhung. Tuyet Nhung emotionally recounted, "After that, a man in the shanty town helped me meet Phi Nhung's mother, and by chance, she adopted me." From that moment, her life took a new turn, gaining a mother figure who always loved and guided her.
Meanwhile, Thieng Ngan also had an equally special story. She confided that she was adopted by the late singer Phi Nhung when she was about 12 years old. Before that, Thieng Ngan had sung at weddings and karaoke bars to fulfill her passion. She recalled: "Back then, I sang at singer Uyen Trang's cafe. Uyen Trang organized a small karaoke singing competition right there in the cafe." Thieng Ngan was the youngest contestant and made it close to the finals when singer Phi Nhung appeared as a judge.
Although she hadn't adopted her at the time, Phi Nhung still showed special care for the little girl. Thieng Ngan recounted: "My mother hadn't adopted me yet, but she gave me money because she thought I was too young. She told me: 'Go home and try to study hard, don't rush into singing.'" That simple advice shows the worry and responsibility the artist has for the younger generation. After the competition, Thieng Ngan continued to participate in many other music competitions, including Solo with Bolero. Although the program didn't accept contestants under 18, she boldly registered because she loved singing so much.
It was at Solo with Bolero that Thieng Ngan met Phi Nhung again, this time as a judge. During one performance, she couldn't control her emotions and burst into tears on stage. That moment left a deep impression. Thieng Ngan emotionally recounted: "Seeing that, Phi Nhung said that she couldn't give me a passing grade, but she would adopt me as her daughter." From then on, she was taken to perform with Phi Nhung, guided and loved as if she were her own child.
Phi Nhung's adopted daughter held a wedding ceremony, holding her adoptive mother's portrait into the wedding hall.
