During their global tour, BLACKPINK made a super-subtle move that was praised by international fans. The group covered Wannabe , the Spice Girls ' hit song, "dying" Wembley Stadium pink as a way to show their gratitude to their seniors who had performed there.
After Spice Girls, BLACKPINK became the second and first K-pop girl group to make history by performing at Wembley Stadium (London, UK). This was not only a symbolic milestone for the group but also affirmed the global influence of the K-pop wave.
And the biggest surprise of the night was the cover of Wannabe, a hit by the Spice Girls from the 1990s, which turned the entire stadium pink with the harmonious singing of tens of thousands of spectators.
In the past, the Spice Girls were considered a legend in the history of British pop music. Therefore, this cover is considered a meaningful tribute. Previously, Jennie shared that the members admired the Spice Girls because " each person has a distinct personality, becoming an icon that the whole group grew up with their music".
During the show, Rosé, Jisoo, Jennie and Lisa brought Wannabe on stage as a special gift for their British fans. The moment quickly went viral on social media, with the audience calling it "a crossover between two generations of legendary girl groups". Speaking on stage, member Rosé said: "We could be the first K-pop girl group to perform at Wembley. It's truly a dream. Thanks to you."
This is not the first time BlackPink has made their mark in the UK. In 2023, the group became the first K-pop act to headline the famous British Summer Time Festival in Hyde Park.
That same year, the group was also awarded the Order of the British Empire (MBE) by King Charles III at Buckingham Palace for their contributions to global cultural exchange.
Not only that, BLACKPINK's return to the Wembley stage also surprised with the backstage appearance of FKA Twigs next to Rosé before her solo performance APT. This is a rare occasion for two international artists to meet at the same event, making the night even more memorable.
In addition to the special performances, BLACKPINK still performed a series of familiar hits such as Kill This Love, How You Like That, Playing With Fire, Lovesick Girls, BOOMBAYAH, DDU-DU DDU-DU and As If It's Your Last. In particular, the new song called JUMP - released in July with modern techno colors was also brought to the stage, stirring up the enthusiastic atmosphere.
The success at Wembley comes just weeks after JUMP debuted at No. 1 on both the Billboard Global 200 and Billboard Global Excl. US. Coincidentally, the song's lyrics also include the line "spice up your life", a direct reference to the Spice Girls legacy. This makes the Wannabe cover even more of a "perfect piece" in BLACKPINK's musical journey.
From the Hyde Park BST stage (2023) to Wembley Stadium (2025), BLACKPINK has continuously proven its position as the most successful Asian girl group in the world today. And with the spirit of "all gas no brakes" like the song JUMP, the 4 girls are still on the journey to expand the boundaries of Kpop, bringing Korean music to spread more and more widely on the global map.
In addition, BLACKPINK's conquest of Wembley is not only a personal achievement, but also a testament to the shift in power in the world music industry. If in the 1990s, the Spice Girls were considered a global symbol of girl power culture, then three decades later, BLACKPINK has inherited and redefined that power in the context of globalization and the digital age.
The Wembley milestone shows that Kpop has gone from a regional phenomenon to a pillar of world entertainment culture. Behind BLACKPINK is a whole generation of Korean artists who dare to enter the biggest music "sanctuaries" on the planet, competing equally with European and American artists. This success not only expands BLACKPINK's influence but also opens the door for many other Kpop groups in the future.

Thanh Yên10:27:34 12/08/2025Rosé (BLACKPINK) caused a stir when she received 8 VMAs 2025 nominations, setting a record for the most nominated Kpop solo artist. Is this a stepping stone to bring her closer to the prestigious GRAMMY award?
